Topic – “Industry, Innovation, and ‘The Other Revolution’”

• Small industrial museum in a historic textile mill in Waltham

• 1813, the mill was built by Boston Manufacturing Company

  • established by Francis Cabot Lowell and partners

• Success had them establish the Merrimack Manufacturing Company

• Built mills on the banks of the Merrimack River in what was East Chelmsford

  • 1826, renamed Lowell in honor of Francis Cabot Lowell
